Bayern Munich need to keep Joshua Kimmich at the club, according to a football legend
German football legend Lothar Matthäus believes Bayern Munich must do everything they can to keep Joshua Kimmik at the club before the Bavarians open talks with the 29-year-old over a new deal with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2025, Sky Germany reported on Tuesday.
Kimmich and Bayern Munich are set to hold talks over the 29-year-old’s future after his summer break. With Matthäus advising his former ยูฟ่าเบท club to make an effort to keep hold of one of their senior players.
‘I can picture Joshua Kimmich as a No. 6, something he hasn’t been under (Thomas) Tuchel. The only question is where does Bayern plan to use him and if they plan to use him at all. If I see players like (Thomas) Müller or (Manuel) Neuer leaving in the future. I’d do everything personally to keep Kimmich,’ Matthäus said.
Meanwhile, Matthäus also commented on Bayern Munich’s summer plans, with RB Leipzig’s Daniel Olmo and Paris Saint-Germain’s Shafi Simons linked.
‘If there are players like Dani Olmo or Shafi Simons on the market, we have to consider them, even if they might not come because Bayern don’t have a big squad or don’t have a lot of money.’
